Recorder Hero › Privacy policy
Privacy policy
This policy explains what happens with your data on Recorder Hero (recorderhero.com) and Head Arcade (headarcade.com). In short: the camera and the microphone are used only on your device, and we collect as little as we can.
Who is responsible
Head Arcade (Gil Rimon), Moinho Do Bispo, 8670-052 Aljezur, Portugal. Email: contact@tuttifluty.com.
Camera and microphone
The games use your camera and microphone to see your hands, face or body and to hear your notes. This happens entirely inside your browser, on your device. Pictures, video and sound are never recorded, stored or sent to us or anyone else.
The one exception is the Player Video: an adult who signed up for it (recorderhero.com/player-video/) and taps ● Record has that session recorded into their own editing room, as described below.
Anonymous statistics
To improve the games we count which pages and games are opened, how long games are played, how well devices run them, and errors. For this we use PostHog (servers in the USA), with a random identifier kept in your browser, no advertising and no tracking across other websites.
Visitors from Europe (the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland) are asked first, and nothing is counted unless they accept. You can change your answer at any time with “Privacy choices” at the bottom of every page.
The home pages show the countries where Recorder Hero heard a recorder today, from these statistics: the country only, nothing about who played.
If you answer the game's short question when you leave it (stars, or what got in the way, and words if you like), we keep the answer with its language and country, to make Recorder Hero better. An email address only if you give one (or tick to be answered at your account's email), and only to answer you. We may use the answers anonymously (never with a name or an email address), for example to share what players tell us.
Stored in your browser
Your settings, progress, chosen language, recorder fingering and your privacy answer are kept in your browser's storage, on your device. When you choose a language on the website, a small cookie remembers it (rh_lang), so the home page opens in that language. You can delete all of this in your browser's settings.
Song packs email list
If a grown-up leaves an email address to hear when Recorder Hero's song packs are on sale (this list began as the Premium list), we keep that address (with the date and language) only to send a thank-you email and to tell you when they're ready. Emails are sent with Resend (USA). Write to us and we will delete your address.
Accounts
An account is optional and only on recorderhero.com. Without one, the first three lessons open at once and then a new lesson each day; a free account opens them all. If you sign in, we keep your email address, your name (if you sign in with Google), the stars and progress from the game, your language, and the dates you signed up and confirmed you're 16 or older, to keep your progress and let you sign in on any screen. Signing in keeps a cookie (rh_session, and rh_in to show you're signed in) for up to 180 days.
You can sign in with Google (Google tells us your email address and name, nothing else) or with a code we email you (sent with Resend, USA). The account is stored with Cloudflare, in the European Union.
If you tick the mailing list box, we also send you Recorder Hero news by email (new songs, lessons and song packs); you can untick it on your account page or write to us at any time. You can delete your account and everything kept with it on your account page.
Progress reports
If you add children or students to your account, we keep the names (or nicknames) and ages you give. When a signed-in child or student practices, we keep what the reports need: which lessons and songs were started and finished, their stars, how many notes were right, the notes they got stuck on, and the minutes. Never a sound or a picture. This is kept for 13 months, and deleted with the child or student, or with your account.
If you ask for progress reports by email (with the Family Pack), the few lines of advice in them are written by Google's Gemini. Gemini receives only practice numbers and note names, never a name or an email address. The reports are sent to your email and to any other addresses you add.
The Player Video
Until 1 January 2027, adults (18 or older) can sign up on recorderhero.com/player-video/ to appear in our demos and ads, for every Recorder Hero song pack as a one-time payment. A recorder chooses to record each session; the camera picture, the sound and the game are uploaded to their own editing room, kept privately on our servers (Cloudflare), where only they see them and can remove them. Only the recordings they send reach our team. With them we keep their typed name, email address, language, country, the dates, which app and lessons each recording shows, and our review, for our team; only their country and language may be shown with their image. Recordings that aren't sent are deleted when their part ends; sent recordings that aren't approved are deleted within 30 days; approved ones are used as the release they signed says. A recorder can ask us at any time to stop using their recordings in new material, and has every right under the GDPR.
Payments
When you buy a song pack, the payment goes through Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe, Ireland), which handles your card and billing details and, as merchant of record, the receipt and taxes. We never see your card. We keep which account owns which song pack, when it was bought, and Stripe's reference for the payment, to give you the song pack and to answer questions. Stripe processes your data under its own privacy policy (stripe.com/privacy).
Contact form
When you write to us through the contact form, we keep your name (if you give it), your email address, your message and your country, only to answer you. The message is forwarded to our inbox.
Hosting
The websites run on Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as your IP address and browser to deliver the pages and protect them from abuse.
Children
Children can play without an account and without giving any personal information (a new lesson opens each day; a grown-up's free account opens them all). The email forms are for grown-ups only.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask to see, correct or delete your data, object to its use, or withdraw your consent at any time: write to contact@tuttifluty.com. You can also complain to a data protection authority; in Portugal, the CNPD (www.cnpd.pt).
